Foreigners’ Rights
Note: The following chapter gives you an insight into the laws regulating residency for non-German nationals in Germany. The rules are fixed but flexible. There is almost no rule that does not have an exception. Therefore the following paragraphs are intended as a guide, and not a binding definition of the law in Germany. Details can be acquired at your local Immigration Office ("Ausländeramt"), at advice centres (see chapter Social Advisory Services (Charitable Organisations)) or, should there be a dispute with the Ausländeramt, from lawyers specialising in foreigners’ rights.
